Connect Grip cable (optional) #

How it works
Side Grip connection simulates presence of Hand Grip and is cappable to remotely control front wheel (used to control ISO usually – depends on user setup in the camera), and also user mappable buttons C4 C5 C6. User can map any camera feature to these buttons in the camera.

A) Connect FX6 Grip cable to the Entire UNI A or UNI B or UNI C port

B) Configure selected UNI port A, B or C to “SonyGrip” mode. Port will go “online” automatically

C) Connect jack connector to the camera Grip connector

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Entire status LED must be BLUE before you connect this cable, or you have to power up the camera after Entire will boot up (status BLUE). Otherwise you will get “An accessory that can not be used” message in the camera.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Once any of UNI-A/B/C ports are set to “SonyGrip” mode, Entire will everytime use Grip port for some commands (for example REC start/stop). Because Entire does not have feedback from the camera (if connection is valid or not), SonyGrip port will be shown as ONLINE everytime, even cable is disconnected, or when camera shows “Unsupported accessory” message. If this happens, some commands simply “does not work”, because Entire forwards commands to Grip port, but Grip connection does not work properly.

Solution – reboot the camera once Entire’s status LED is BLUE (or GREEN)

Configure the Entire and the Camera #

Entire is now connected to the Camera and is able to control any camera feature.
Next step is to assign remote commands to camera features.

A) Using AIR Commander Link (Entire Combo)
Once your Link is connected to the Entire, you can simply map features of remote control to the camera feature. Most of buttons are already assigned as per labels, however some needs to be customized for Sony FX6.

Features working by default:
REC, MENU, Up, Down, Left, Right, OK, Iris+/-, Zoom, Trigger AF, Display mode, WB

ISO control #

ISO +/-:
Open the Link Mapping menu in via the Entire’s web page

link-mapping

Configure C1 and C2 buttons of the Link transmitter to ISO Up and ISO Down functions of the Entire.

C1-C2-ISO

In the camera MENU assign HandGrip front wheel to ISO control.

ISO Up and ISO Down are exectured at the FX6 as rotation of front wheel at Hand Grip. You can of course assign ISO control to other buttons, for example C4 C5.

ND filter stepping #

ND Filter stepping is assigned to Exposure correction function in the Entire. All you need is to assign Exposure correction function to any button of the Link. For example ShutterSpeed buttons are usually not necessary as shutterspeed is mostly static and not changed remotely.

Open Link mapping page and configure Speed+ and Speed – functions to Exposure corr. Up / Down accordingly.

Now when you press Speed +/- buttons at the Link transmitter, your camera will change ND filter. In the camera must be set ND filter to manual mode (rotation of the ND wheel must change ND value in the camera)

Other features #

Other features are accessible via C4 C5 C6 buttons of the Hand Grip.
These features are accessible via the Entire by triggering:
SoftKeyA – HandGrip button 4
SoftKeyB – HandGrip button 5
SoftKeyC – HandGrip button 6

You can then for example assign SoftKeyA to C3 button of the Link via Link Mapping:

C3-softkeyA

Now when you press C3 button of the Link Transmitter, Entire will Execute remote press of the C4 button at virtual Hand Grip of the FX6 Camera.
What function you will assign to C4 (or 5/6) button in the camera is only on you. Camera allows to map almost any feature to these buttons.
