Capture detection rewiring

1 min read

Wiring of capture detection #

ENTIRE captures exposure with exact timing on pin 1 of EXT port (red wire). This pin has been used since ENTIRE revision 1 and has strong internal pull-up resistor (1kOhm). This pull up resistor may cause problems when shared with autopilot or external PPK systems.
This page is about alternative option of using other than EXT port for capture detection and make capture detection more compatible and reliable.

Wiring change #

This process is abou to change connection of pin 1 of EXT port to pin 2 of USBMULTI connector.
You need tweezers, needle, small knife or other thin, sharp tool for this procedure.

Choose the right pin (USBMULTI)

  • Disconnect USB cable
  • Amount of connected wires in the connector may differ from image, this depends on your camera model
  • Pin which needs to be removed (disconnected) is marked on image right

Pull the spring (USBMULTI)

  • Use tweezers / needle
  • GENTLY pull up the plastic spring

Pull the wire (USBMULTI)

  • Keep spring pulled up
  • Gently pull the wire out of the connector
  • Pull wire straight!

Disconnect wire (USBMULTI)

  • Now fully remove the wire
  • Make sure the spring has not bent and returned to initial position
  • You can also gently push the spring back if needed

Pull the wire (EXT)

Now repeat this procedure for EXT connector pin 1 (red wire)

  • Keep spring pulled up
  • Gently pull the wire out of the connector
  • Pull wire straight!

Disconnect wire (EXT)

  • Now fully remove the wire
  • Make sure the spring has not bent and returned to initial position
  • You can also gently push the spring back if needed

Reconnect wire to USBMULTI

  • Red wire removed from EXT needs to be connected to USBMULTI pin 2
  • Make sure abut pin orientation!
  • Slightly push wire to the connector
  • Make sure the wire is locked by the spring

ENTIRE configuration #

Firmware revision

  • Make sure your ENTIRE is running 1.979

Settings

  • Open ENTIRE’s MENU and navigate to “Capture detection”

Settings

  • Alternative wiring option is hidden in default state
  • In popup window click to header multiple times (4 or more times)
  • “Alternate wiring” option will show up automatically

Settings

  • Enable “Alternate wiring” option
